a summer productivity package

So, how’s your summer going?

This self-care edition is quite different from the rest. I actually needed new self-care ideas and advice on wellness, so, I went on Pinterest and found a couple of things. In this blog, we’re going to explore these options and hopefully we all find at least one thing here we’re encouraged to try… Okay, here it goes:

(IDEA 1) This one is kind of unintentional given the obvious equation of summer and the beach. Going by a body of water on a sunny day or during the sunset? I’m thinking meditation session, or just looking at the scenery, hearing the ocean sounds moving back and forth. A bit of a cinematic feel.

(IDEA 2) Games. Puzzles, chess, checkers, cards, whatever you choose!

(IDEA 3) Get ice cream. Okay, this one is not Pinterest-inspired, but life-inspired. I proudly have ice cream in the winter - look, to me, ice cream is for any kind of weather, any kind of season; I don’t care - it is a treasure! My thinking is if you can have ice cream during winter, you can absolutely have ice cream during the summer. But if you don’t have some scoops when it’s mad cold, summer is the time, no?! Besides, the sun isn’t so friendly on those excruciatingly hot summer days, so why not get some ice cream!!

(IDEA 4) Go to a museum you’ve never visited//revisit the ones you’ve already been to. Go to a quirky one if you can, see a new exhibition, surprise yourself with something you never thought you’d see!

(IDEA 5) road trip/train trip. Go somewhere (a tad or very) far away, somewhere you’ve never been to. Drive somewhere and get immersed by the scenery and everything else you see. If not, take a bus, get lost for a day! + There’s something so special about being on a train that allows you to see the city or town in a way you never have before, why not take a train if you can?

(IDEA 6) Cycling!!

(IDEA 7) Re-discover YouTube. There are so many creators out there that have such good work, whether it be their videography or just their personality and consistency, they have so much to show us and in some cases, teach us. Why not check some of it out? If you’re looking for a new channel to watch, do not underestimate the power of the YouTube homepage or their recommended videos. Keep an eye out, there’s always something to be discovered! You can also re-watch your favorites or ‘liked’ videos! + I of course encourage you to check out/re-visit my YouTube !! keep encouraging artists/creators!!

(IDEA 8) A stay-in weekend. If you’re working or schooling this summer, chances are you tend to get exhausted when the weekend comes. You just want to rest. Even if you’re not in the work or school category for the summer, you may still want to do those things and maybe not just for a few weekends. Rest is essential and summer is a good time do so. Regardless of all the leisure activities listed on here, remember rest and staying in is one of the most important self-care ideas.

(IDEA 9) Reading. Most of us don’t realize how much reading we actually do in a day - from emails, to text messages, to captions and posts on the internet, to blogs ;) With all these things, nothing could ever compare to reading a book. If you’re not that into reading and are interested in trying something new, why not pick up a small book and get lost in it? It doesn’t even have to be a classic or something new, you can borrow one to see how you do with it first. For those who already love to read, why not try a genre you never have before or re-read one of your favorites?!

(IDEA 10) Hiking. Even if you don’t have a mountain near you, take a long walk, maybe put on some music or a podcast while at it or - don’t (sometimes it’s good to just be in the moment, with nothing interrupting the ambiance) - or go hiking with someone!

(IDEA 11) Retail therapy, a clothing experiment. I feel like fashion during summer can be very colorful but with an unintentional hint of minimalism, but how do you translate it to be? what do you want your summer style mood board to be like? Go to stores you rarely go to or only shop at online. Get some Inspo, experiment with style!

(IDEA 12) Doing whatever makes you happy!
