I think there’s a misconception.

I wouldn’t say I’m seeing things clearly or more obscurely now,

I’d say I’m seeing things differently.

They say time is our greatest enemy,

but what if it’s one of our shy friends?

There’s a misconception of how we’re supposed to go with each tick,

What we ought to know or ought to have at a certain stage,

or a certain age,

How we’re supposed to run faster than the clocks’ hands,

because if we don’t,

we’d be left behind.

Left behind where?

There’s a misconception that we’re not supposed to go at our own pace.

An idea many swear isn’t true, but nevertheless, adhere to.

And hey,

if there’s anything I’ve learned,

it’s that running against time isn’t running for your life,

but running from your life.
