Jet lag + missing Nigeria
From 30 degrees (celsius)+ of Lagos, to New York’s swing between below freezing to slightly above freezing. Waking up in a timezone so familiar yet unknown, one which you don’t yet belong to rest or try to get things done. Jet lag is like sleepwalking or dreaming awake, it’s no joke but it can be a tad bit fun.
So, while the jet lag jets away, let me show you how this winter - nope, summer in winter time… in Nigeria - went:
So let’s begin with food, shall we? Firstly, can we please talk about Gizdodo? (ref. to photo 1 on the collage). This was a ‘special of the day’ and it was too good! The perfect amount of spicy, nutritious, salivating *chefs kiss* Same reaction for my deliciously creamy pasta from Brisk. The last two where from a spectacular Indian restaurant called Chapter Lagos and it was also super incredible, tasteful, delectable!!
One thing that makes Lagos so enjoyable is the water that defines it by the Lagos lagoon and of course, the Atlantic Ocean. It’s an absolute must for me when I’m there. Also, it’s hard not to be a sunglasses person when the forecast is reading 30 celsius and above every single day! I’m so thankful I remembered to bring at least one pair on the trip. (Ref to photo 1 in collage): I brought those Port Tanger glasses with me almost every time I stepped outside. Also, one of my major reads for this trip pictured in shot 3 of this mini collage is the ideal Renaissance poetry collection: “All the sonnets of Shakespeare” - the edition was by Paul Edmondson and Stanley Wells which I recommend as it gives translation to the ‘old English’ and describes the story behind each poem.
Nike Art gallery. I’ve been to countless art museums and let me tell you that none come close to what I experienced at Nike Art gallery. Words aren’t sufficient to encapsulate what it was like to be surrounded by this remarkable waterfall of art. It is a definite must go.
Hosted a paint and sip at my house and look, you never know who the Van Gogh is in the room o! Also, for the last photo in the collage - of course the night ended with me opening my Planet Finder app and spotting the closest galaxy to us in the sky (Andromeda).
Nigeria is so beautiful. It’s riddled in so much nature if you take a quick blink away from the metropolis. We did a quick roadtrip to Benin, and I was floored by how much there was to see - palm trees, other trees, ram, water, factories etc. I think roadtrips in Nigeria make you realize just how much it seeps with potential and growth. It makes you hopeful. Definitely a highlight.
So, here’s a solution to jet lag: do something! do anything in the timezone you’ve settled in! Jet lag resulted in this post, so cheers to that. One thing you should take away from this post is that there’s always something for everyone to do (in Lagos). Try and do something new and different to elevate your experience in wherever you visit in the world.
