relax, it’s not a marathon

Allow yourself to bloom!

I feel like as we get older, we start to learn more about not just ourselves, but also people and the world around us. Just wanted to highlight this because I’m really appreciative of it.

One thing I’ve taken in recently is the idea that life is not a marathon. Everything that’s supposed to happen will happen, and what isn’t, wouldn’t. A sense of competition exists if you’re focused on yourself and other people and where they’ve gotten so far, prompting you to think about how you can surpass them or be better. Now, as I consider myself an ambitious person, I’d be lying if I told you trying to be better is wrong. In my opinion, it’s not. The point is, when we forget ourselves in the process of doing so, it can be pretty detrimental for us. I say this because I genuinely believe that while healthy competition can exist, it is important that we align ourselves with what is for us, what we are capable of, what matches our personalities, likes, dislikes, and goals, rather than those of someone else. It can be so easy to forget or lose yourself when you’re focused on other people. So remember: life is not a marathon, we all go at our own pace; working hard and doing our best is all we can do. We can’t control outcomes, only efforts.

What will be, will be.

Until the next one
