S.2, Ep. 1: Welcome to December 2024!

Welcome to season 2 of the December series, a project I started last year in honor of this amazing month. December is a month of celebration, joy, and reflection - all of which is promised to be conveyed in this year’s series. To kick off episode 1, I’m taking you with me on a virtual Christmas-themed trip to Disney world!! Let’s go—

It almost feels like Disney world was made for this time of the year. It’s a place beaming with ebullience, preciousness, and nostalgia. Some people say it’s the happiest place on Earth, and when the fireworks started, it became increasingly hard not to believe them:

I feel very fortunate to have been able to experience these moments as a child. On some vacations, we’d go to Disney world and celebrate the holidays there, so doing this as an adult filled me with so much gratitude to have had all those breathtaking moments to close off the year and enter a new one.

As much as I’d love to, I don’t want to spend this entire episode talking about Disney and its magic, I also wanted to acknowledge how this season may mean so many things for so many people, but the aim of this project really is to underscore the joy at the core of all of it. It’s me basically trying to keep everyone’s spirits high as we close this chapter called 2024, and dash into 2025. I don’t consider it a menial or ‘common’ thing moving from one year to another because so much happens in a year, both good and bad. I think it’s important to celebrate that it even happened in the first place, that we lived through it, and that we survived. It’s a beautiful thing, and I can’t wait till you get a glimpse of how it was experienced by multiple people in the coming episodes!
