S.2, Ep. 3: What was your lesson of the year? (pt. 1)
What was your lesson of the year?
Expect less and experience more.
- George
Rejection is protection.
- Paris
No matter what happens, something will always come next, just keep persevering, take life at face value, and you’ll never fail.
- Jaden
(1)I learned that my body cannot allow me to live a life that’s not meant for me, to do anything I wouldn’t want for myself, or to live a life for someone else. I have to always follow what feels right for me. (2) I naturally grew up as a very sensitive person and I used to think it was a bad thing, but to be sensitive is to be able to be in touch with your emotions and to be very aware of who you are, because the more sensitive you are, the more you can learn about yourself, and you can plan ahead using that knowledge.
- Sinachi
It’s never that deep. Don’t take life too seriously.
- Uche
Do what makes you happy!
- Grace
(1) Never settle for less just because it was available. (2) It takes a lot of strength to walk away. (3) Keep your standards high!
- Osa
Live life and make decisions with an open mindset. A closed mindset limits you to better opportunities.
– Jake
I found myself many times this year having to remind myself that I am her. In situations where I found my confidence low or not prioritizing myself or my needs first, I just have to remind myself, that I’m that girl, I can do whatever I put my mind to. I shouldn’t let anyone or anything hit my confidence. Going through life thinking like that has also created a lifestyle and mindset change that helped me get through the year.
- Chim
Trust but always verify.
- Thomas
Cake is always good for breakfast.
- Brooke
Don’t compare yourself to others because everyone is on a different path.
- Jody
(1) My lesson of the year was to stop blocking my own blessings and to stop overthinking. (2) Not everything will be good all the time.
- Christian
I think this year has been a journey of self discovery, my lesson of the year is not judging people and working with them where they are at. It’s getting an understanding that as human beings, we can’t judge fairly because we don’t know a person’s full story. Usually we judge from the perspective from where we are at and what we know, which may not necessarily be where they are at and what they know. There’s freedom in not judging people, and it helps me to truly love them for who they are and where they are at. I pray God builds on that for the future.
- Emilia
Stay disciplined. Don’t let things or people distract you. No matter what, focus on your priorities and wellbeing.
- Eldridge
Always listen to your gut instinct and continue to forge ahead.
- Sosa
Never trust.
- Gloria
It is very important to save. No matter the expenses or bills, it is good for you to save. No matter how much your income is, try as much as possible to save something for yourself. It doesn’t even have to be a huge amount; at some point, you’d find that what you saved would go a long way.
- Stella
Not everything happens on your timing, everything happens on God’s timing. I find that sometimes we pressure ourselves when things happen back to back, and when things don’t go our way, we feel depressed, have anxiety and that’s something we sometimes get stuck in. But really everything that happens in your life, happened for you, not to you. If you’re going through something, that whole process is teaching you so when you get where you want to be, you’re already prepared for that.
- Anthony
Reimagine regression as a step forward instead of a setback. Embodying elements of your past can be a reflective, grounding and transformative practice.
- Karyn
Believe people the first time.
- Jennell
My lesson of the year was knowing when to say “no.”
- Theresa
Be nice to everyone all the time for no reason.
– Nick
(1)Even if things may not make sense, everything that happens to you is meant to help you write a great story about your life. (2) Don’t take advice from people who don’t share the same values as you.
- Renee
Thank you so much!
Until the next one,
