trial and error

We’re so sensitive to flawlessness and often aim for things to go exactly as we want them to. We live in a world where we are fortunate enough to make mistakes and watch them happen - I say this because mistakes are a subtle reminder that we’re human and that we’re not in control of everything.

For the things we are in control of : whether it’s what we wear, or perhaps what we make, where we go, what we choose to eat or drink etc. - we sometimes like to play around with them to unearth what we love most about them and what we feel more comfortable or confident portraying. However, while doing this, we have to be prepared for the negative aspects of whatever we’re in control of, as well as the positive.

The issue I think most people face is the discouragement part after 1 or 2 tries that didn’t work out so well. This may prompt you to take a break from it or to even give up then and there. This is the point where you have to remember trial and error - experimenting till you find what you’re most successful at or what suits you well. It may take weeks, months, or however long. The important part is that you learn and achieve something after your experiment. Remember that to know whether something is right for you or not, you have to at least give it one try.

Invest in your ideas. I believe trial and error shows us just how creative we all can be. When we actualize thoughts and ideas, we’re being creative. Sometimes it’s scary to even want to start or participate in something; sometimes people think they’re not ready to chase their dreams, or be who they want to be, dress how they want to dress, eat what they want to eat and so on. But, how would you know what to do, if you haven’t bothered trying? I’m sure you’ve heard of the quote: If you don’t try, you’ll never know; I find so much truth in this. For some things, it may be easier said than done - I believe the reason people may be reluctant (at first) to try something new, is due to their mentality. There’s something alluring yet scary about novelty, it has a surprising nature about it but must that really prompt discouragement?

In the initial paragraph, I mentioned how we’re not in control of everything - this, in my opinion, is a very good thing. Not being in control of everything means you’re not responsible for everything. It means you have no choice but to be aware that what needs to happen naturally, will happen, regardless of whether you let it or not. An example is time - the precious thing about it is that even though it’s different depending on what part of the world you’re in, time cannot be altered. You cannot re-live a day, when time arrives, it stays for as long as it’s meant to, then it goes. Time is fleeting. With trial and error, we may discover certain things we’re in control of that have to change, because we’ve changed, or we’re merely eager to see and do something new. Just because something is fleeting, doesn’t mean you cannot enjoy it while it’s here. However, we shouldn’t fear when we feel it’s time to try again, because you never know what the next trial may bring.

Until the next one,
