Trying to find the good in every situation

This past year, I’ve met people who radiate the kind of optimism you read about in books. Without sounding too cheesy, people like that have a very important aura around them because it’s so easy to get lost in tough or inauspicious, pessimistic environments and lose your cool. Whether it’s through laughter, empathy, or something similar, embracing and embodying positivity is one of the greatest gifts you can give others and even yourself. I’m writing this today because I know that just as I’ve met people who reflect light and bask in positive energy, I’ve also met people who don’t necessarily see the good in a lot of things. I understand that there are multiple reasons why people may find themselves in that mindset or the former - everyone knows that as you get older, there’s so much more you’re responsible for and that you have to be conscious of. To put this into perspective, think of life as an ocean (ref to the surf experience ;), it’s sometimes calm, sometimes not, with waves sometimes shockingly tall, sometimes innocuously low. How you handle life’s constant changes is what really makes up who you are. I read a book a few years ago that said if you put out (+) signs through your energy, you will receive (+) signs back, if you put out (-) signs, you will receive (-) signs; so put out what you want to receive.

Trying to find the good in every situation doesn’t signify that every situation is good. Classifying that situation is not the point I’m trying to make - you can deem a circumstance good or bad, but how is that circumstance approached? what’s the response to the challenge? With that, finding the good in situations doesn’t necessarily mean finding the good thing in a bad or tepid occurrence, but the positive or at least less intense response to it.

Until the next one
