Ep. 3: How would you rather spend your Christmas?

Just like the ideal Christmas gift episode, I asked a couple of people what their ideal Christmas looked like. As I was preparing for this blog, I was incredibly touched by something I noticed in literally every single response: family + loved ones. This isn’t necessarily shocking because when we think of Christmas, we think of who we’d spend it with, and that’s usually family + loved ones.

A friend recently pointed out the irony about this: despite the materialism that surrounds us, people still consider spending time with family a gift and suggest that family is far more important than any materialistic thing. Family and Christmas are almost intrinsically symbiotic and todays responses are such a beautiful reminder of that.

I hope we all achieve whatever we consider our ideal Christmas to be!

For now, let’s see what some said an ideal Christmas for them looks like:

Fiorella:

My ideal Christmas would be in a snowy place - a white Christmas. In a cabin with my family, eating really delicious food all day in cozy clothes. It’s also enjoying hot chocolate and hot, cozy food, and watching either movies or shows, and just conversing with my family.

Valentina:

It would be to travel, probably with my whole family, where everyone’s happy. I always wanted to visit South Korea; there’s a tower there called the Namsan Tower and if you go there, you could do a lock and key- I really want to do that with my sister. We were actually planning it before but I don’t know if that’s still in the works. It’s really cold in South Korea this time of the year but I think it’ll be really fun because they seem to have a lot of decorations there, and we could also try some really good eats!

Tanya:

My ideal Christmas would be inviting my friends and family over, and my friends also inviting their friends over. A couple of my friends would come in earlier so we cook dinner together, and listen to music, eat, and have drinks. Then, we’d all do secret Santa so not everybody is getting a bunch of presents, everybody just gets one. And then… it snows outside! And the food is really yummy!

Alyssa:

So, I grew up in the Caribbean, and I always go home for Christmas because all my family is there… well, mainly my parents. So for me, an Ideal Christmas is a warm Christmas with rum and palm trees and everything fun. That’s why I think New York is so interesting because it’s so cold. It’s just so different from what a Caribbean Christmas is. My ideal Christmas is also being with family and just doing traditional stuff that would be normal for us on Christmas.

Doreen:

My ideal Christmas would be once I’m fully established as an adult and my parents could come over to my place and see how their hard work and efforts paid off, how I built myself up, and found a great man, and created a family with him. Just having people around that I love, and that’s the greatest gift ever!

Merry Christmas!

Until the next one
