In the Christmas Spirit
On what really matters:
I feel like I spent this year realizing and appreciating this very phrase.
Priorities change and that sort of diffuses and rearranges what we ought to care about. This year, the unforeseen consequences of the coronavirus hit us quickly in march, and kept us at our toes even now we’re in December. However, some things remain constant in our ever-changing world and lives. I won’t define what these things are because I’m certain everyone has their own definitions of this for them. My message is to give those things extra value as we close the 2020 chapter of our lives and get ready for the quickly approaching 2021.
-Energy-
I found myself talking about this recently, how contagious it is and how we perceive it. Sometimes you can be the only lit candle in the room while everyone else is struggling to keep their wax still (as poetic as that sounds, it’s true). I believe that being the light isn’t something that is given to merely some people, I think it is a choice - one that isn’t always the easiest but is almost always the best. I’ve come to realize you don’t have to be the life of the party or the person constantly surrounded to feel happy, because sometimes, we need to be the light in our own lives, understanding who we are, and what pleases us. I’m not saying keep your good energy to yourself, because Lord knows, a lot of people need it, especially in these random and unprecedented times.
When Wizkid said bad energy stay far away, he really knew what he was saying. Energy is powerful, we absorb it, we breathe it, we are it. I remember a few months back, when someone was telling me of how plants literally take in our energy and cleanse our spaces without some of us even noticing. It withers if our energy is low, and bounces back to its healthy self later on. Same thing for humans - some of us stay glued to the news (understandably since it’s ubiquitous) taking in all that almost always negative energy as it gives the impression that only bad things seem to be happening in this world. which isn’t true.
So, I encourage you to light up your world as well as others. Stay calm and congratulations, you made it through this year!
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! (sending you all the good vibes you could possibly wish for!!)
